The whole length of winter Norway in one journey. This tour starts at the very top of the country in Kirkenes, near the Russian border, and travels south by sea and rail to Oslo. You sleep a night in the Snow Hotel and drive your own husky team, then board the Hurtigruten — the coastal ships that have linked Norway’s towns for over a century — for five nights at sea. It suits couples, retired travellers and anyone who loves slow travel and big scenery, with 3 to 4-star European-standard hotels on land and all meals on the ship.
The cruise is the heart of the trip. The ship calls at Tromsø, threads the narrow Trollfjord to Svolvær in the Lofoten Islands, crosses the Arctic Circle along the Helgeland coast and stops in Trondheim before reaching Bergen. With long dark nights far from city lights, the deck is a fine place to watch for the Northern Lights.
Then come the fjords. From Bergen, a train, bus and boat bring you along the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord to Flåm; next morning the Flåm Railway climbs to Myrdal and the Bergen Railway crosses the snowy mountain plateau to Oslo. Don’t miss a walk on Bryggen’s wooden wharf in Bergen and the Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo.
Why go now? The Snow Hotel opens only in the depth of winter, and this tour runs from December to March, when the coast is snowy and the nights are long. Ship cabins and Snow Hotel rooms are limited, so book early. Norway is a Schengen country — our team arranges your Schengen visa along with the tour. For more ideas, read our guide to places to visit in Norway.
Good to know: Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and no one can guarantee them. Ship cabins are inside cabins with limited or no view; outside cabins are available as an upgrade on request. The husky tour and Snow Hotel depend on snow and season. For a custom private package — your own dates, upgraded cabins or hotels — please contact our team for a personalised quote. Breakfast is included daily, plus dinner at the Snow Hotel and all meals during the 5-night cruise. Flights from India and the Oslo–Kirkenes flight are booked separately — our team can book them for you, from any Indian city. Pack thermal layers, a warm hat, gloves and waterproof boots. Prices from €4,510 per person (about ₹4,96,100) on twin sharing, excluding GST and TCS. Final prices are recalculated for your exact travel dates and season.
Other ways to see winter Norway: for a shorter trip, Northern Lights Safari in Tromsø & Oslo, 6 days packs huskies, reindeer and two aurora chases into one Tromsø base, while Arctic Norway & Finnish Lapland, 10 days adds glass cabins, glass igloos and Rovaniemi.
