Ring in the New Year the Icelandic way. This short, fully guided break is built around 31 December. You spend New Year’s Eve in the countryside town of Hella, drive round the giant community bonfires that Icelanders light in every village, sit down to a festive four-course dinner, and at midnight watch the sky fill with fireworks — with a glass of sparkling wine in hand and, if the sky is kind, the Northern Lights behind them. On New Year’s Day you finish with a fine-dining dinner in Reykjavík. It suits couples, friends and families with children of 8 and above.
The days are packed with Iceland’s best sights. Before the celebrations you soak in the Blue Lagoon and drive the lunar landscapes of Reykjanes. On New Year’s Eve day you follow the South Coast past Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and the black sand of Reynisfjara, with the sea stacks of Reynisdrangar offshore. Don’t miss the view from Dyrhólaey in the low winter light. On 1 January the Golden Circle — Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss — is wonderfully quiet.
Why go now? There is one departure a year, on 29 December, and only 40 seats — they go early, so plan now for this season. Iceland is a Schengen country, and holiday-season visa appointments fill fast; our team arranges your Schengen visa along with the tour. Late December is deep in the Northern Lights season — see the best time to see the Northern Lights.
Good to know: this is a group coach tour with a maximum of 40 travellers. For a custom private package — your own dates, private vehicle and guide, upgraded hotels — please contact our team for a personalised quote. Daylight is short at this time of year (roughly four to five hours), so sightseeing happens in a soft, golden light; pack thermals, a windproof jacket and waterproof shoes. Breakfast is included daily plus the two special dinners. The from-price uses budget rooms (the Reykjavík room is compact, about 10 m²); a comfort upgrade is available. You arrive and leave through Keflavík on the Flybus shuttle, and flights are booked separately from any Indian city. Minimum age is 8. Northern Lights can’t be guaranteed. Prices from €2,080 per person (about ₹2,28,800) on twin sharing.
