Two Arctic countries, four nights under glass and five ways to chase the Northern Lights. This winter journey starts in Oslo and runs north through Arctic Norway into Finnish Lapland, ending in Rovaniemi. You sleep in a glass cabin with a jacuzzi on Senja and a glass igloo in Levi, and go looking for the aurora by catamaran, husky sled, snowmobile and vehicle. It suits honeymooners, couples and families who want a once-in-a-lifetime Arctic trip with special stays, rather than one city base. The other nights are in quality 3 to 5-star European-standard hotels.
Senja is the surprise of the trip. Norway’s second-largest island is quieter than Tromsø, with jagged peaks dropping straight into the sea; a private chauffeur shows you its highlights, and at night you watch for the aurora from your glass cabin. From there a scenic ferry takes you to Tromsø for a catamaran chase on the fjords.
Then the road runs into Finland. A scenic bus crosses the border to Kilpisjärvi, a tiny wilderness village with dinner and a Finnish sauna, and on to Levi, where the glass igloos, huskies, reindeer and snowmobiles are. Don’t miss the last stop, Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus — add an extra night if you want time at Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle.
Why go now? This tour runs from December to March, when the snow is deep and the nights are long. Glass cabins and igloos have only a few units, so Christmas, New Year and February dates fill months ahead. Norway and Finland are Schengen countries — our team arranges your Schengen visa along with the tour. Travelling as a couple? Read our guide to Lapland honeymoon packages from India.
Good to know: Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and no one can guarantee them; five chases on different nights give you the best chance. The safaris and chases are scheduled small-group activities, and the long journeys are by ferry and public bus. For a custom private package — your own dates, private vehicle and guide, upgraded hotels — please contact our team for a personalised quote. Breakfast is included daily, plus dinner in Kilpisjärvi. Flights from India and the Oslo–Bardufoss flight are booked separately — our team can book them for you, from any Indian city; you fly home from Rovaniemi. Pack thermal layers, a warm hat, gloves and waterproof boots. Prices from €5,865 per person (about ₹6,45,200) on twin sharing, excluding GST and TCS. Final prices are confirmed for your exact travel dates and season.
Other ways to see the Northern Lights: short on time? Northern Lights Safari in Tromsø & Oslo, 6 days packs the huskies, reindeer and two aurora chases into one Tromsø base. For Iceland in winter, take Iceland Circle & Northern Lights, 8 days.
