Waltzes in Vienna, Mozart in Salzburg, waterfalls that thunder over three drops, a cable car to the roof of Germany, and a snow-covered glacier above Gstaad. This 10 Days Austria Switzerland Tour is a guided journey through the heart of the Alps, from the Danube to Lake Geneva, with more included visits than most tours this length. It is planned and supported by IMAD Travel, an IATA-certified travel agency in Hyderabad serving travellers from across India since 2011. Prefer to travel privately? Our team can also arrange this same route, or a similar one, as a custom package for your family or group, with your own dates and hotels. Just quote the tour code IMAD-EU-33349 when you contact us.

The arrival transfer, hotels with breakfast, guided tours of Vienna, Zurich and Geneva, two lake cruises, the Zugspitze and Glacier 3000 cable cars, the salt mines, and entry to Melk Abbey, Krimml Falls, the Reutte bridge, St. Gallen’s library, the Rhine Falls and Chillon Castle are arranged before you leave.
Vienna and the Wachau Valley
You begin in Vienna, the city of the Habsburgs, coffee houses and classical music. A panoramic tour takes you along the Ringstrasse past palaces, parks and the opera, and at nightfall the coach drops you in the illuminated old town around St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Day 3 follows the Danube through the Wachau Valley, a UNESCO landscape of vineyards and castles. You stop in medieval Krems and in Dürnstein, where Richard the Lionheart was once held prisoner, and visit Melk Abbey, a golden Baroque monastery with a breathtaking library, before reaching Linz.
Lake Day and Salzburg
The next day is all lakes. A one-hour cruise on Lake Traunsee from Gmunden, with its 19th-century villas, leads to St. Wolfgang, a pilgrimage village of painted houses on the Wolfgangsee. By mid-afternoon you reach Salzburg, Mozart’s birthplace, with its Baroque old town, its fortress and the gardens made famous by The Sound of Music.
Salt mines, Krimml Falls and Innsbruck
“Mountain Day” starts underground at the Salzwelten salt mines. Ride the miners’ train and cross a glowing salt lake by boat. After lunch in lakeside Zell am See you reach the Krimml Falls, 380 metres of water falling in three cascades inside Hohe Tauern National Park, then continue to Innsbruck and its famous Golden Roof.
The Zugspitze and the Tibetan bridge
A cable car lifts you to the summit of the Zugspitze (2,962 m), Germany’s highest peak, where on clear days you look across the Alps of four countries. Later you cross Europe’s longest Tibetan-style suspension bridge at Reutte, high above a valley, and spend the night in walled Feldkirch near Liechtenstein.
St. Gallen, the Rhine Falls and Zurich
In St. Gallen you visit one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, a Baroque hall of 170,000 books that even holds an Egyptian mummy. You lunch in German Constance on its lake, walk through the painted streets of Stein am Rhein and feel the spray of the Rhine Falls, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. In Zurich a guide shows you the banking capital, then a two-hour cruise on Lake Zurich takes you to medieval Rapperswil, with a Swiss train ride back.
Bern, Glacier 3000, Chillon and Geneva
The last full day may be the best. After free time in Bern, the Swiss capital, the road climbs through the Gstaad region to Glacier 3000, where a cable car and lunch are included, with a suspension bridge strung between two peaks. Then comes Chillon Castle, rising from the waters of Lake Geneva, and a drive through Montreux. A Geneva city tour on the final morning shows the lake, the Jet d’Eau and the international quarter.
Who this Austria and Switzerland tour suits
It suits travellers who have seen Paris and Rome and now want the Alps in depth; families with children who love cable cars, boats and waterfalls; couples looking for a scenic honeymoon in summer or autumn; and anyone who wants Austria and Switzerland in one trip with very few long empty drives.
Best time to go and visas
May to October brings green valleys and the best mountain views, and the snow at Glacier 3000 lasts all year. Indian passport holders need a single Schengen visa for Austria, Germany and Switzerland, which our visa team can prepare. Start about three months before travel.
Good to know before you book
The tour starts in Vienna and ends in Geneva after the city tour on Day 10, so book an open-jaw flight (into Vienna, out of Geneva) or ask us to add a night in Geneva. The Geneva hotel is usually on the French outskirts of the city. Breakfast is included daily, plus lunch at Glacier 3000. Mountain weather can close cable cars, and the guide adjusts the plan on the day. Prices start from €1,960 per person (₹2,15,600 at €1 = ₹110, October 2026) on twin sharing, excluding GST and TCS, and are recalculated for your exact travel dates.
