Hotels with buffet breakfast, the arrival transfer, the coach with an English-speaking guide, guided tours of Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw, and entry to Auschwitz II-Birkenau and the Opole Village Museum are arranged before you leave.
The tour begins in Warsaw, a capital of nearly two million people that was almost completely destroyed in the Second World War and rebuilt with extraordinary care. A local guide walks you through the Old Town, rebuilt brick by brick from old paintings and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, past the Royal Palace and along cobbled lanes, then shows you the soaring Soviet-era Palace of Culture, the area of what was once the largest Jewish ghetto in Europe and the green avenues of Lazienki Park, where the Chopin Monument stands among the trees. The afternoon is free — the Warsaw Rising Museum tells the story of the city’s 1944 uprising in a way few visitors forget.
Heading south into the forested hills of Lesser Poland, you stop for lunch in Kielce, an 11th-century town with a cathedral, a bishop’s palace and pleasant gardens. The afternoon is the most moving of the journey: Auschwitz, the former Nazi concentration and extermination camp where more than a million people lost their lives, now a UNESCO memorial and museum. You have time at Auschwitz II-Birkenau, where trains arrived from all over Europe (entry included). By evening you reach Krakow — take a walk across the Market Square, one of the largest medieval squares in Europe.
The next morning a local guide shows you Krakow’s UNESCO-listed Old Town: the Cloth Hall, St Mary’s Basilica with its trumpet call every hour, the medieval streets and Wawel Hill, where the castle and cathedral of the Polish kings look down on the river Vistula. The afternoon is free, and many travellers join the optional visit to Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter of synagogues, cafés and street art.
This day follows the footsteps of Poland’s most famous son. Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is a UNESCO-listed landscape of a monastery and dozens of chapels scattered over the hills, a pilgrimage site for four centuries. After a short stop at the wooden church of Barwald Dolny, you reach Wadowice, birthplace of Karol Wojtyła — Pope John Paul II — where you can choose to visit his family home museum or the basilica where he was baptised. On the way to Katowice, the capital of Silesia, the coach stops in Nikiszowiec, a red-brick district built for coal miners and their families in the early 1900s.
After a coffee in Opole, a lively town famous for its national song festival, you visit the Opole Village Museum (entry included), an open-air collection of 19th-century wooden farmhouses, windmills and a church that shows how rural Poland once lived. The afternoon brings Wroclaw, the capital of Lower Silesia, a city of islands, bridges and canals shaped by Polish, Czech, Austrian and German history. A guided tour of the rebuilt old town leads you to its Market Square, one of the most beautiful in the country — look out for the little bronze dwarfs hidden all over the city.
The last travel day crosses Greater Poland to Poznan, one of the oldest cities in the country. Its Market Square is ringed by colourful Renaissance houses, and at noon two mechanical goats butt heads above the Town Hall clock, a 16th-century tradition. After lunch you continue to Torun, a walled Gothic city on the Vistula and a UNESCO site, where Nicolaus Copernicus was born — his house is now a museum, and the town is also famous for its gingerbread. You arrive back in Warsaw in the evening.
This 8 days Poland tour including Warsaw, Krakow, Auschwitz, Wroclaw and Torun suits travellers who want to see the whole country rather than only Krakow; history lovers interested in royal Poland, the Second World War and the story of Pope John Paul II; and couples, friends and families who like a guided coach tour with the main city tours and tickets arranged. It is a full itinerary with a different town most days, so it suits travellers who enjoy variety.
April to October is the best time, with mild to warm weather and long days; June to August is the warmest and busiest. Departures run every Monday from April 2027. Poland is in the Schengen area, so Indian passport holders need a Schengen visa. Our visa team prepares the file and books the appointment — start about two to three months before travel.
Breakfast is included every day; other meals are on your own, and Poland is good value for eating out, with plenty of vegetarian dishes such as pierogi. The visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau is solemn; dress respectfully and allow time to reflect. Optional visits such as Kazimierz, the Wadowice museum and Copernicus House are paid locally. International flights into and out of Warsaw are booked separately — our team can book them from any Indian city. Prices start from €945 per person (₹1,04,000 at €1 = ₹110, October 2026) on twin sharing, excluding GST and TCS, and are recalculated for your exact travel dates and season.
For a shorter trip, see the 5 days Poland tour of Warsaw, Krakow, Auschwitz and Czestochowa. To combine Poland with the Baltics, take the 9 days Baltics and Warsaw tour or the 13 days Baltics to Prague tour, and for Scandinavia as well, the 14 days Scandinavia and Eastern Europe tour from Oslo to Warsaw. See every route on our Europe tour packages from India page.
