Ancient Rome, Renaissance Florence and the canals of Venice, then over the Alps to Mozart’s Salzburg, imperial Vienna and Budapest on the Danube — this 9 Days Rome to Budapest Tour joins three countries and six great cities in a single guided coach journey, travelling in an English-only group. It is planned and supported by IMAD Travel, an IATA-certified travel agency in Hyderabad serving travellers from across India since 2011. If you would rather travel privately, our team can arrange this same route, or a similar one, as a custom package for your family or group, with your own dates and hotels — just quote the tour code IMAD-EU-61627 when you contact us.

Hotels with buffet breakfast, the arrival transfer, the coach with an English-speaking guide, guided city tours in Rome, Florence, Venice, Vienna and Budapest, three boat trips — to St Mark’s Square, on Lake Traunsee and on the Danube — the Murano glass factory visit, and evening transfers to Via Cavour, Trastevere and Grinzing are arranged before you leave.
Rome: two evenings in the Eternal City
The tour begins on a Sunday in Rome. After the arrival transfer, the first evening takes you to Via Cavour, close to the Colosseum, where Italian, Indian and international restaurants make it an easy first dinner after a long flight. The next morning a guide leads you through Imperial Rome — on foot among the ruins and by coach past the great squares and monuments — ending at Vatican City around half past eleven. The afternoon is yours: the guide can arrange an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, or a walk through Baroque Rome with its fountains and piazzas. At night a transfer takes you to Trastevere, a neighbourhood of ivy-covered houses, cobbled lanes and family-run trattorias — one of the most atmospheric places in the city to spend an evening.
Florence from above, then Venice by boat
Heading north through the Tuscan countryside, the coach climbs first to Piazzale Michelangelo, where the whole of Florence — the red dome of the Duomo, Giotto’s bell tower, the Arno and its bridges — lies below you. After lunch a local expert walks you through the city that gave the world the Renaissance: the Ponte Vecchio with its goldsmiths’ shops, the Duomo and the open-air sculpture gallery of Piazza della Signoria. The next day you cross the Apennines to Venice, take a boat over the Giudecca Canal to the island city and discover St Mark’s Square with a local guide. A visit to a Murano glass workshop shows how masters still shape molten glass the way their families did for centuries, and there is free time to get lost among the bridges and canals before your night on the mainland at Mestre.
Over the Alps: Innsbruck, Kitzbühel and Salzburg
Day five is one of the most scenic of the tour. The coach leaves Italy for Austria and the Tyrol — note that when the group is small, this stretch from Venice to Innsbruck may be made by train. In Innsbruck there is time to walk through the old town below the mountains and have lunch, then quiet alpine roads lead to Kitzbühel, a picture-book ski village where snow lingers for much of the year. You reach Salzburg by evening. The next morning is for Mozart’s city: its Renaissance and Baroque old town, its churches and squares, all watched over by the great fortress on the hill. You continue through the lake district to St Wolfgang, a pilgrimage village on the water, and at Traunkirchen board a cruise on Lake Traunsee (included), passing four of its castles before landing in Gmunden. By evening you arrive in Vienna.
Vienna, the imperial capital
Vienna is a city of palaces, coffee houses and music. A local guide shows you its grand Ringstrasse avenues, the Hofburg and the great parks on the panoramic tour, and the afternoon is free for the Schönbrunn Palace, the art museums or a slice of Sachertorte in a historic café. In the evening a transfer takes you to Grinzing, an old wine-growing village at the edge of the city, where traditional taverns serve local wine and simple Austrian food.
Budapest, the Queen of the Danube
After about three hours on the road you arrive in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, with free time for lunch around the lively Váci utca. Then comes one of the tour’s finest moments — a boat trip on the Danube (included), with historic Buda and its castle hill on one bank and the Parliament and grand buildings of Pest on the other. A panoramic tour follows, and in the evening you can join an optional Hungarian folk show with dinner. The tour ends the next morning after breakfast.
Who this tour suits
This 9 days tour of Rome, Florence, Venice, Salzburg, Vienna and Budapest suits first-time visitors to Europe who want Italy’s classics and the imperial cities of Central Europe in one trip; couples and honeymooners who enjoy evenings in Trastevere, Venice and Grinzing; and families or friends who prefer a guided coach tour in an English-only group, with hotels, guides and the main visits arranged. Days are full and several involve long drives through beautiful scenery, so it is best for travellers who are comfortable with an active pace. For a slower look at Italy alone, see our 6 days Italy tour; to add Prague, the Vienna, Budapest and Prague tour is a good companion.
Best time to go and visa
April to June and September to October are the most pleasant months — mild weather for walking tours in Rome and Florence and fresh, green alpine scenery in Austria. July and August are hot in Italy and busier everywhere, while winter departures bring cold days, Christmas markets in Salzburg, Vienna and Budapest, and snow in the Alps. Italy, Austria and Hungary are all in the Schengen area, so one Schengen visa covers the whole tour for Indian passport holders. Our visa team prepares the file and books the appointment — start about two to three months before travel.
Good to know before you book
Breakfast is included every day; lunches and dinners are on your own, and Indian and vegetarian food is easy to find in Rome, Florence, Venice, Vienna and Budapest. Comfortable shoes are a must for the cobbles of Rome and the bridges of Venice. Your Venice hotel is in Mestre, on the mainland. International flights into Rome and out of Budapest are booked separately — our team can book them from any Indian city. Prices start from €1,420 per person (₹1,56,200 at €1 = ₹110, October 2026) on twin sharing, excluding GST and TCS, and are recalculated for your exact travel dates and season.
