A winter Finland trip with a bit of everything. Two nights in Helsinki with a day trip to medieval Tallinn, two nights in Rovaniemi for Santa Claus Village, and two nights in a glass igloo at Kakslauttanen, deep in Finnish Lapland. It suits families, honeymooners and first-time visitors to Finland who want a city break and the Arctic in one trip, with private airport transfers and dinners at the resort.
Lapland, the full experience. In Rovaniemi, cross the Arctic Circle, meet Santa and ride both a reindeer sleigh and a husky sleigh. Then head north to Kakslauttanen for a snowmobile aurora safari, a 3-hour husky safari and a second Northern Lights hunt by vehicle. Don’t miss the glass igloo nights: on a clear night the aurora dances right above your bed.
Helsinki and Tallinn. Start in Finland’s capital and take a full-day trip across the Baltic Sea to Tallinn, Estonia’s fairy-tale medieval old town. Your last night is at a hotel at Helsinki Airport, a short walk from the terminal for an easy flight home.
Why go now? This tour runs through the winter. Kakslauttanen’s glass igloos are among the most wanted rooms in Lapland and sell out months ahead for Christmas, New Year and February. Good to know: Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and no one can guarantee them. The activities are scheduled small-group tours, and the Rovaniemi – Kakslauttanen journey is by public bus (about 3 hours). Christmas and New Year dates carry a surcharge.
