Three Arctic countries and four chances to see the Northern Lights. This is the full Lapland journey: from Helsinki north to a glass igloo in Kakslauttanen, through Rovaniemi and Santa Claus Village, across the border to Tromsø in Arctic Norway, by historic train to the Icehotel in Swedish Lapland, and home from Stockholm. It suits couples, honeymooners and families who want Finland, Norway and Sweden in one winter trip, with 4-star city hotels and private airport transfers.
The Arctic at its best. Ride a snowmobile under the aurora in Kakslauttanen, meet reindeer and huskies on the full-day Rovaniemi tour, chase the lights around Tromsø with dinner by a bonfire, and sleep two nights at the world-famous Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. Don’t miss the train from Narvik to Kiruna: it climbs from the Norwegian fjords through the snowy mountains of Abisko, one of the best Northern Lights areas in Europe.
Then Stockholm. Two nights in Sweden’s capital, with sightseeing by the amphibious Ocean Bus or a hop-on hop-off pass, before you fly home.
Why go now? This tour runs from December to March, when the nights are long and the snow is deep. Glass igloos and the Icehotel have very few rooms, so Christmas, New Year and February dates fill months ahead. Good to know: Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and no one can guarantee them. The long journeys are by public bus and train (Rovaniemi to Tromsø is about 9 hours), and the activities are scheduled small-group tours. The tour can also start in Stockholm on request. After breakfast, fly north to Ivalo, where a private transfer takes you to Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort. In the evening, ride a snowmobile across the snow on a Northern Lights safari. Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight in Kakslauttanen (glass igloo).
After breakfast, take the 4-hour scenic bus across Finnish Lapland to Rovaniemi. The evening is free. Breakfast included. Overnight in Rovaniemi.
After breakfast, join a full-day tour: cross the Arctic Circle, visit Santa Claus Village, ride a reindeer sleigh at a reindeer farm and meet the dogs at a husky farm. Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight in Rovaniemi.
